Border Patrol Reports Unprecedented Increase in Illegal Entries Under President Biden

Payam Javan: In August, the number of individuals attempting to enter the United States illegally reached a historic high during President Joe Biden’s tenure, as reported by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). The agency disclosed that 304,162 individuals were either classified as inadmissible at entry points or apprehended by Border Patrol agents after illegal border crossings. This marked a significant 24 percent increase from the previous month when 245,213 such encounters were recorded in July.

This surge in illegal crossings surpassed the previous record set in December 2022, also during President Biden’s administration, when 302,412 nationwide encounters were documented. Among the August figures, Border Patrol agents arrested 181,059 individuals for illegal border crossings, representing a 36 percent rise compared to July.

Since President Biden’s inauguration, Border Patrol agents have apprehended over 7 million individuals attempting to cross the border illegally between official entry points. Critics, particularly Republicans, have attributed the border crisis to the policies of the President’s administration.
