Horror in Bondi: Six Killed in Sydney Shopping Centre Stabbing Spree

Payam Javan: A stabbing rampage at Sydney’s Westfield Bondi Junction shopping center has resulted in six fatalities, including five women and one man.

The assailant, approximately 40 years old, acted alone according to New South Wales Police Commissioner Karen Webb, who downplayed any terrorism links. The attacker targeted multiple individuals, including a nine-month-old baby who was injured during the incident.

Police responded swiftly, with a female officer ultimately shooting the assailant dead. Witnesses described scenes of chaos and fear as shoppers fled the area.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese condemned the violence as “horrific,” while praising the bravery of the police officer who neutralized the attacker. The premier of New South Wales, Chris Minns, expressed horror at the events and pledged support for those affected. Opposition leader Peter Dutton offered condolences to the victims and their families.
