Payam Javan: The U.S. Defense Department has announced a $425 million military assistance package for Ukraine, including laser-guided munitions to counter Russia’s drones.
The package involves $125 million in existing U.S. stockpiles and $300 million from the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI) to procure laser-guided munitions. This aid includes air defense munitions, rocket system ammunition, artillery rounds, javelins, and anti-tank systems.
The Biden administration urges Congress to approve additional funding for Ukraine’s defense. This marks the 50th tranche of equipment provided to Ukraine since August 2021, with the latest announcement coming a week after a $150 million aid package.
