Manhattan Park Drama: Anarchist Theories Emerge in Self-Immolation Incident

Payam Javan: In a shocking incident outside the Manhattan courthouse where former President Donald Trump’s trial was underway, a man identified as Max Azzarello set himself on fire in Collect Pond Park.

NYPD officials identified him as a Florida resident who allegedly tossed “conspiracy theory-type” pamphlets before igniting himself. Azzarello survived the blaze and is in critical condition. His motives appear linked to anarchist beliefs, as evidenced by his online manifesto and social media posts. The manifesto, titled “I have set myself on fire outside the Trump Trial,” suggests a desire to draw attention to what he sees as urgent revelations about a looming fascist coup.

Azzarello’s writings outline convoluted theories involving Ponzi schemes and shadowy billionaire plots. Police are investigating the incident, while Azzarello’s family has been informed.
