Families of Fallen U.S. Troops Criticize Biden’s Handling of Afghanistan Withdrawal

Payam Javan: On the second anniversary of the chaotic withdrawal of U.S. troops from Afghanistan, families of the fallen met with former President Donald Trump and GOP Rep. Michael Waltz. The families expressed their disappointment with President Joe Biden’s handling of the withdrawal, which they said was a disaster that led to the deaths of their loved ones.

Trump and Waltz pledged to be better champions for the Gold Star families and to hold Biden accountable for his actions. They also criticized Biden for not meeting with the families or acknowledging their loss.

The families’ meeting with Trump and Waltz comes as the disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan has largely been forgotten by the media. However, the families’ testimony and the two-year anniversary of the fall of Kabul are a reminder of the human cost of Biden’s decision-making.
