British singer-songwriter Lauren Bennett, best known as a member of the pop group G.R.L. and for her featured performance on LMFAO’s global hit “Party Rock Anthem,” has passed away at the age of 37. The news was officially confirmed on July 6 by surviving G.R.L. members Em, Tash, and P in a statement shared on social media. The group expressed profound grief, describing Bennett as a beloved friend whose beautiful spirit touched many lives, though no official cause of death has been disclosed.
Indications of Bennett’s passing emerged prior to the official announcement, with former Paradiso Girls bandmate Aria Crescendo posting a tribute on June 23, marking what she called Bennett’s “forever birthday.” Crescendo reflected on their two-decade-long friendship, which began when Bennett was 16, recalling their shared musical endeavors and close personal bond. Following G.R.L.’s public statement, numerous fans and industry colleagues, including producer Jessica Sutta, expressed shock and offered condolences, remembering Bennett’s talent and humility.
Bennett began her professional music career at the age of 18 with the Paradiso Girls, a group that achieved notable success with their 2009 single “Patron Tequila.” After the group disbanded, she collaborated with prominent artists, including will.i.am on a remix of “I Got It from My Mama.” Her career reached new heights in 2011 when she was featured on LMFAO’s global chart-topping single “Party Rock Anthem,” which solidified her presence in the international pop music scene.
She subsequently joined G.R.L., contributing to their self-titled 2014 debut EP, which featured the successful single “Ugly Heart” and a collaboration with Pitbull titled “Wild Wild Love.” The group’s initial trajectory was tragically interrupted later that year by the death of member Simone Battle at age 25, leading to their temporary disbandment. Bennett’s passing marks another deeply felt loss for the group and its fanbase, leaving behind a legacy of celebrated pop contributions and cherished memories.
