U.S. Vice President JD Vance announced on Monday that the text of an agreement between the United States and Iran aimed at ending a months-long conflict is expected to be released soon, potentially within the week, as technical negotiations continue.
According to Vance, the proposed deal immediately reopens the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz to maritime traffic and secures a long-term commitment from Tehran to refrain from developing or procuring nuclear weapons.
While some technical details regarding the long-term, toll-free operation of the strait remain to be finalized, the administration plans to address these issues directly at the negotiating table.
Vance emphasized that the United States will maintain diplomatic, economic, and military leverage during the upcoming 60-day negotiation period, offering economic cooperation if Iran acts in good faith while warning of sustained pressure if the talks fail.
