U.S. Troops Grapple with Repeated Attacks in the Middle East

Payam Javan: In the past day, U.S. troops in Iraq and Syria faced four new rounds of rocket and drone attacks from suspected Iran-backed groups, despite a recent U.S. airstrike.

Pentagon confirmed 46 attacks since Oct. 17, resulting in at least 56 U.S. service members injured.

The U.S. attributed the attacks to Iranian-backed groups, leading to two recent strikes on suspected IRGC targets.

Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin emphasized self-defense, but attacks continued. The U.S. warns of additional airstrikes if attacks persist. Additionally, a U.S. MQ-9 Reaper drone was shot down off the coast of Yemen, with Houthi rebels claiming responsibility. The Houthis have been involved in the Yemen conflict and recently claimed involvement in the Israel-Hamas conflict.
