Payam Javan: In Vienna, authorities have arrested two individuals, aged 19 and 17, suspected of plotting an attack on Taylor Swift’s upcoming concerts. Chemical substances and technical devices were discovered at the home of the 19-year-old suspect in Ternitz, about 20 miles from Vienna. The older suspect had reportedly pledged allegiance to the leader of ISIS. Following these arrests, all three of Swift’s concerts scheduled for this week were canceled as a precaution, with increased security measures put in place around the venue.
Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer expressed disappointment over the concert cancellations, emphasizing the threat of Islamist terrorism to Western values. The cancellation affects approximately 170,000 fans, with refunds being processed for all tickets. Swift’s Eras tour, which has been highly successful and lucrative, will continue with planned dates in London and other cities. The British authorities are currently evaluating security for upcoming events.
