Payam Javan: Hayden Panettiere, the American actress acclaimed for her prominent roles in the television series ‘Heroes’ and ‘Nashville,’ has died at the age of 36. Her father, Skip Panettiere, confirmed her passing in a statement released to ABC News on Sunday, describing her as an incredible light and a force of nature. No official cause of death has been announced, and representatives for the actress did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
Panettiere began her career as a child actor in commercials and daytime soap operas before achieving international fame in 2006. Her portrayal of Claire Bennet, a cheerleader with regenerative healing powers in the sci-fi drama ‘Heroes,’ became a cultural phenomenon. The role earned her multiple Teen Choice Awards and established her as a leading young talent in Hollywood.
Following the success of ‘Heroes,’ Panettiere transitioned to a starring role in the musical drama series ‘Nashville’ as the ambitious country music star Juliette Barnes. Performing her own vocals for the show, she earned two Golden Globe nominations and placed multiple tracks on the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts, demonstrating her versatility as both an actress and a singer.
Throughout her career, Panettiere also made notable appearances on the big screen. Her filmography includes a memorable performance as the opinionated daughter of a football coach in the 2000 sports drama ‘Remember the Titans,’ as well as roles in the ‘Scream’ horror franchise and the teen comedy ‘I Love You, Beth Cooper.’
In her personal life, Panettiere was widely respected for her candor regarding her mental health and substance abuse struggles. She spoke openly about battling severe postpartum depression and addiction following the birth of her daughter in 2014, and she voluntarily sought treatment in rehabilitation facilities to address these challenges.
She also addressed public misconceptions surrounding the custody of her daughter with former partner Wladimir Klitschko. In recent interviews, Panettiere clarified that the arrangement for her daughter to live in Ukraine was a collaborative decision made to prioritize the child’s well-being while she worked through her recovery.
Her death follows the loss of her younger brother, Jansen Panettiere, an actor who died of a heart condition in 2023 at the age of 28. The family’s statement emphasized the deep sorrow of losing Hayden, whose career spanned decades of memorable performances on television and film.
