Former First Lady Rosalynn Carter Enters Hospice Care at 96

Payam Javan: Former First Lady Rosalynn Carter, aged 96, has entered hospice care at her home in Plains, Georgia, as announced by the Carter Center.

The Carter family had revealed in May 2023 that Mrs. Carter was dealing with dementia but was still leading a content life. The statement, conveyed by their grandson Jason Carter, emphasized that the couple is spending time together with family, requesting privacy and expressing gratitude for the support received.

Former President Jimmy Carter, 99, is also in hospice care after opting to forego additional medical intervention in February. The Carters, the longest-married presidential couple since 1946, have had a significant impact through their post-White House years, particularly with the establishment of the Carter Center in 1982 and involvement in charitable endeavors like Habitat for Humanity.
