Jennings, who previously served as a special assistant to President George W. Bush, criticized the administration for steering the country “into a ditch” and suggested that the same leadership should not remain in power. His comments were triggered by Vice President Kamala Harris’ acceptance speech at the Democratic National Convention, which he felt inadequately addressed the administration’s shortcomings.

Jennings specifically took issue with Harris’ speech for failing to take responsibility for the administration’s performance. He pointed out her lack of humility in addressing issues such as inflation and immigration. According to Jennings, Harris focused more on attacking political opponents rather than presenting concrete solutions to the problems currently facing the country. This, he argued, undermines her credibility and leaves voters with insufficient reasons to support the incumbent administration.

In response to Jennings’ criticism, fellow CNN commentator Kate Bedingfield defended the administration, asserting that the Biden team is committed to change. Jennings, however, remained unconvinced, arguing that the Biden-Harris team, despite claiming to be the “adults in the room,” has failed to deliver effective governance. He contrasted this with the Trump administration’s record, suggesting that the previous administration’s policies led to a stronger economy and better national security.
