Computer Failure Stops BART Trains From Running Friday Morning

Payam Javan: Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) service was halted early Friday morning due to a computer equipment issue linked to recent network upgrade work, the agency announced. The problem prevented trains from starting their scheduled runs, leaving thousands of commuters seeking other options during the morning rush.

In a statement issued just after 5 a.m., BART advised riders to pursue alternative means of transportation. The agency directed passengers to its online Trip Planner and mobile app, where users can deselect BART in the “transit options” setting to identify alternate routes.

BART also highlighted resources on its website, including a detailed map of transbay bus and ferry alternatives at bart.gov/transbayalts. Officials did not provide a timeline for restoring full service, urging riders to stay updated through official alerts.
