State Department Launches Comprehensive Visa Review

Payam Javan: The U.S. State Department announced that it is conducting a full review of all current visa holders as part of what it calls “continuous vetting.” Officials say the process is designed to detect possible ineligibility, including visa overstays, criminal activity, or connections to terrorism.

The Trump administration confirmed that the expanded vetting will also examine applicants’ social media history, U.S. law enforcement records, and information from their home countries. The move reflects a broader push for heightened scrutiny of foreign nationals living or working in the United States.

On Thursday, Secretary of State Marco Rubio declared an immediate suspension of worker visas for commercial truck drivers. He argued that foreign drivers are undercutting American wages and posing safety risks, a policy shift that could have major implications for the U.S. transport and logistics industry.
