The incident, which took place just ahead of his high-profile appearance, is now drawing attention at the highest levels of U.S. leadership.

According to U.N. officials, the escalator stopped suddenly when a safety mechanism was triggered by an individual running ahead of the president. They emphasized that the halt was not intentional but rather an automatic response designed to prevent accidents.

The White House, however, has expressed concern over the circumstances. Press secretary Karoline Leavitt told Fox News that the U.S. Secret Service is investigating the matter, adding that if it is discovered the stoppage was caused by U.N. staff, they will be held accountable.
