Payam Javan: United Airlines has unveiled its largest international expansion to date, adding eight new destinations to its itinerary for summer 2025. The airline plans to operate more than 760 weekly flights, marking a significant boost in its global offerings. The new routes aim to connect U.S. travelers with exciting international locations, including both established tourist spots and emerging travel destinations.
Starting in May, travelers departing from Newark, New Jersey, can look forward to visiting Bilbao in Spain, Faro in Portugal, and Palermo in Italy. The airline will also launch flights to Madeira Island, Portugal, and Nuuk, Greenland, in June. United will expand its routes from Washington, D.C., and Tokyo with flights to Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, and Kaohsiung, Taiwan, respectively. Additional new routes from Washington to Dakar, Senegal, and enhanced service to existing destinations such as Nice, France, and Venice, Italy, reflect the airline’s strategic focus on both leisure and business travel.
Beyond expanding flight destinations, United has also revealed plans to introduce free satellite-based Starlink WiFi on flights in partnership with Elon Musk’s SpaceX. The service, which allows passengers to connect multiple devices, will begin testing early next year, with broader rollout expected by 2025. United’s ambitious plans reflect not only a recovery from the pandemic’s impact but also a commitment to enhancing the travel experience with new routes and onboard innovations.
