Payam Javan: U.S. prosecutors are being accused of weaponizing the American justice system against political opponents, particularly those linked to the Biden family. The Southern District of New York issued an arrest warrant and extradition request against Israeli professor Gal Luft for espionage and trafficking weapons. Luft had approached the FBI back in 2019 as a whistleblower with allegations of shady deals involving the Biden family, but the FBI did not pursue his claims. The recent move against Luft makes it impossible for him to testify before Congress, potentially putting an end to one of the most damaging accusations of Biden family misconduct.
Luft served as a retired lieutenant colonel in the Israel Defence Force and was the founder of the Institute for the Analysis of Global Security (IAGS) in Washington. Luft and the IAGS collaborated with the China Energy Fund Committee, a Chinese nonprofit organization for energy, after securing a clean coal technology contract with the U.S. Department of Energy. According to reports, Luft’s claims regarding information found on Hunter Biden’s laptop parallel what he had told the FBI. However, the FBI did not take any action on his allegations.
Since posting bail in Cyprus for $438,000, Luft has disappeared without a trace. His whereabouts and current state are unknown, potentially putting an end to the accusations of Biden family misconduct. The recent move by U.S. prosecutors has raised concerns about the weaponization of the justice system against political opponents, as former President Donald J. Trump is also a victim of recent witch hunts.
