Trump Contemplates Military Options Amid Iran-Israel Escalation

Payam Javan: On June 18, President Donald Trump addressed reporters about his ongoing considerations regarding escalating tensions with Iran. While not committing to military action, Trump mentioned he had ideas on how to address the situation but emphasized that decisions, especially concerning war, could change rapidly. The situation has grown increasingly tense with ongoing military strikes between Iran and Israel, and Trump warned that Iran could be only “a few weeks away” from developing a nuclear weapon. He also reiterated his reluctance for U.S. involvement in fighting but noted that if Iran pursued nuclear weapons, military intervention might be necessary.

Trump expressed disappointment that Iran failed to negotiate a deal within 60 days, as he had previously warned, and criticized their delayed response. Referring to remarks by Iranian leader Ali Khamenei, Trump dismissed threats from Iran, saying, “Good luck,” and reiterated that his patience with Iran had already “run out.” Meanwhile, Israeli airstrikes on Iranian nuclear facilities continue, and the conflict between the two nations remains volatile. Trump also predicted that the Iranian regime might collapse, but reaffirmed that he has plans for the aftermath.
