Payam Javan: The notorious South Carolina lawyer Alex Murdaugh, who was found guilty of killing his wife and son by shooting them, will be sentenced on Friday. The sentencing hearing was scheduled for Friday at 9:30 a.m. local time by Judge Clifton Newman.

After the six-week trial, the jury debated for less than three hours before finding Murdaugh guilty of two counts of murder and one count of possessing a firearm while committing a violent crime.

Jurors learned about betrayed friends and clients, Murdaugh’s failed attempt to stage his death in an insurance fraud scheme, a fatal boat crash in which his son was involved, the housekeeper who died in a fall in the Murdaugh home, and the graphic scene of the murders of Murdaugh’s wife and son from more than 75 witnesses and almost 800 pieces of evidence.
