Indeed, the recent actions of Texas Governor Greg Abbott, designating both the Muslim Brotherhood and the Council on American–Islamic Relations (CAIR) as “foreign terrorist organizations and transnational criminal organizations,” underscore the growing recognition of this threat at a state level. Abbott’s proclamation, which bans them from acquiring land in Texas and authorizes legal action to shut them down, is a strong defense of American principles. While CAIR predictably cries foul and launches lawsuits, claiming to be mere “civil rights advocates,” patriotic Americans can see through the smokescreen. When groups are described as “successor organizations” to entities advocating for “purely Islamic society,” their claims of being solely about civil rights ring hollow.
