Payam Javan: More than 100 firefighters from at 16 adjacent firehouses battled a three-alarm fire at an egg farm in Bozrah, Connecticut.
The fire at Hillandale Farms on Schwartz Road, which destroyed a 50′ x 600′ chicken coop, took 4.5 hours to put out and killed an estimated 100,000 hens. Fortunately, neither the firefighters nor the farm employees were hurt.
Pictures of the enormous egg farm fire spread on social media. One observer reported seeing smoke from the chicken coop fire coming from miles away.
According to local news sources, the cause of the fire is unknown. The Town of Bozrah Fire Marshal will, however, begin an investigation, according to WTIC-TV.
