Payam Javan: The Israeli military announced on Saturday that they had successfully killed Hezbollah’s leader, Hassan Nasrallah, in airstrikes conducted on Friday. The operation also eliminated Ali Karki, Hezbollah’s Southern Front commander, and other senior members of the group. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) stated that the strike targeted Hezbollah’s headquarters, located under residential buildings in Beirut. While the IDF confirmed Nasrallah’s death, Hezbollah has yet to release a formal statement regarding the incident.
In addition to Nasrallah, two other senior Hezbollah members, Muhammad Ali Ismail, commander of Hezbollah’s Missile Unit, and his deputy, Hussein Ahmad Ismail, were also killed in airstrikes late on Friday. These strikes followed earlier IDF actions that took out Ibrahim Muhammad Qabisi, head of Hezbollah’s Missiles and Rockets Force. The IDF noted that these individuals were responsible for various attacks against Israel, including missile launches and terrorist operations.
The Israeli strikes are part of a broader military offensive against Hezbollah, with escalating casualties reported. Lebanese authorities stated that over 490 people, including many women and children, had died due to Israeli airstrikes, with thousands more wounded. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu defended the military actions, warning Lebanese civilians to evacuate while emphasizing that Israel’s operations aim to neutralize Hezbollah and protect its citizens from future threats.
