Payam Javan: Hearst Castle in San Luis Obispo County reopened to the public on Wednesday after being closed for two years.
Hearst Castle were closed in 2020, first because of the COVID-19 pandemic, and then due to severe rainstorms that damaged the castle’s access road in early 2021.
The Hearst San Simeon State Historical Monument is a huge estate that includes a huge, elaborate 115-room mansion, guesthouses, pools, and eight acres of gardens.
A storm in 2021 damaged Hearst Castle’s steep, curvy entrance road. The road’s top portion had to be rebuilt, and concrete retaining walls were placed, among other modifications.
According to California State Parks, the 10-month project cost approximately $13.7 million.
Tickets start at $30 for adults and $15 for children aged 5-12.
