Freezing Temps Can’t Chill Trump’s Support in Iowa

Payam Javan: Former President Donald Trump has called on his supporters to participate in Monday’s Iowa caucus, where he holds a substantial lead in polls over other GOP candidates.

Despite freezing temperatures, Trump urged voters to turn out, jokingly stating, “even if you vote and then pass away, it’s worth it.” Severe weather conditions led to the cancellation of three out of four of Trump’s in-person events in Iowa on Sunday.

Other GOP candidates, including Ron DeSantis and Vivek Ramaswamy, also encouraged their supporters to brave the cold.

The final NBC News/Des Moines Register/Mediacom Iowa poll indicated Trump’s significant lead with 48 percent support among likely Republican caucus-goers. Nikki Haley came in second with 20 percent, followed by DeSantis at 16 percent, and Ramaswamy at 8 percent. Despite lagging behind, DeSantis, Haley, and Ramaswamy expressed confidence in their campaigns.
