Payam Javan: Former official in the Clinton and Obama administrations, Dana Hyde, was killed in a business jet crash due to air turbulence over New England on Friday.
The Bombardier Challenger 300 aircraft was carrying Hyde’s husband, son, and two crew members, and was diverted to a location close to Hartford, Connecticut. Hyde was taken to a local hospital but was later declared dead due to blunt-force injuries.
She served as the deputy U.S. attorney general’s special assistant and the president’s personal assistant for cabinet affairs under President Bill Clinton, and also as a senior policy adviser at the State Department and an assistant director at the Office of Management and Budget under the presidency of Barack Obama.
The aircraft was owned by Conexon, a Kansas City, Missouri-based business that specialized in bringing high-speed internet access to remote areas.
