Payam Javan: A fire at a farm in Connecticut resulted in the deaths of several chickens. Firefighters claimed the fire started in a 50 foot by 600 foot operational chicken coop at Hillandale Farms.
The company “raises around 20 million chickens for eggs and is one of the top 5 egg producers in the country,” according to the Hillandale Farms website.
The report states that more than 100 firefighters and staff from 16 nearby departments responded to the incident.
The fire was reported to have caused no injuries.
Bozrah Volunteer Fire Co. safety officer John Way stated he could not verify local reports quoting The Salvation Army that said around 100,000 hens were killed.
