Payam Javan: A 40-year-old man was arrested for allegedly purchasing body parts on Facebook and attempting to resell them. He reportedly collects bones and other human remains.
A call about suspicious behavior was made to the East Pennsboro Township Police Department on June 14 regarding the 200 block of North Enola Road, according to a statement. Officers discovered Jeremy Pauley when they arrived, and they later discovered that he had been “purchasing human body parts from a female in Arkansas.”
Detectives from the East Pennsboro Township Police Department, Cumberland County Forensics, and the Cumberland County Coroner’s Office searched Pauley’s residence, according to court documents quoted by WHTM-TV. They allegedly discovered many large buckets filled with human body parts there, including skin, a heart, two brains, two livers, two lungs, and other organs.
According to reports, Pauley paid $4,000 for the woman’s remains in Arkansas, which included half a head, three brains with the skull cap, one heart, a female pelvis, four hands, and other body parts. He allegedly told police that he bought them with the intent to sell them again. The woman used the US Postal Service to transport the components. She is accused of stealing the remains from a University of Arkansas mortuary.
Pauley was accused of dealing in the proceeds of criminal activity, receiving stolen property, and exploiting a corpse. According to reports, he was freed on a $50,000 unsecured bail.
