Following her death, law enforcement officers were observed visiting the family home of her on-again, off-again boyfriend, Brian Hickerson, in Greeneville, Tennessee, as investigations into the circumstances surrounding her passing continue.
According to a recently released police report, Brian Hickerson and his brother, Zach Hickerson, were present at the South Carolina apartment where Panettiere died. Law enforcement responded to the scene, and subsequent reports indicated that patrol cars and officers visited a Hickerson family residence shortly thereafter, though local police departments have not yet publicly commented on the specifics of the visit.
Lesley Vogel, Panettiere’s mother, spoke to media outlets expressing deep concern regarding her daughter’s relationship with Brian Hickerson, who was convicted in 2021 in a domestic violence case involving the actress. Vogel also revealed that a narcotics investigator had been requested to assist in the ongoing investigation into the actress’s death.
The responding officer’s report noted differing emotional reactions from the individuals present at the scene. While Zach Hickerson appeared highly emotional during the resuscitation attempts, Brian Hickerson reportedly did not show visible emotion until paramedics officially pronounced Panettiere deceased, after which he provided authorities with a bag of redacted prescription medications she had been taking.
Panettiere, who rose to prominence as a child star, had previously spoken about the intense pressures of growing up in the entertainment industry. Her mother reflected on these challenges, noting that the actress had faced significant personal difficulties while navigating early fame and its long-term impact on her life.
