Payam Javan: President Donald Trump said Friday on Fox & Friends that authorities have taken into custody a suspect in the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. Trump claimed with “a high degree of certainty” that the individual responsible was detained shortly before his interview, crediting someone close to the suspect for alerting police.

Praising the swift response, Trump commended local law enforcement, saying officials “did a great job” in coordinating efforts to track down and arrest the alleged perpetrator. He added that the collaboration between agencies ensured the case was resolved quickly.

Trump also called for the death penalty if the suspect is convicted. He described Kirk as “the finest person” who was widely respected, insisting the activist’s death was unjust and urging the justice system to deliver the maximum punishment.
