Jewish Voter Support for Trump Gains Momentum as He Criticizes Harris

Payam Javan: At the Republican Jewish Coalition Leadership Summit, former President Donald Trump emphasized his dedication to ensuring the long-term survival of Israel while asserting that America’s safety would remain his top priority. Addressing the audience via a live broadcast from New York, Trump conveyed his commitment to maintaining a strong alliance with Israel and claimed that he would secure a significant portion of the Jewish vote in the upcoming election. His comments were met with enthusiasm from the crowd at the Venetian Las Vegas.

Recent polling indicates a complex landscape for Jewish voter support. A Siena College poll showed that about 50 percent of Jewish voters in New York would back Trump over Vice President Kamala Harris, while national surveys revealed a stronger preference for President Joe Biden. Trump, who received 30 percent of the Jewish vote in 2020, suggested that his administration would have expanded the Abraham Accords significantly if he had been serving a second term, aiming to increase global participation in the peace agreements.

The summit also featured speeches from notable figures such as Sen. Steve Daines and Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, who highlighted favorable conditions for Republican candidates in upcoming elections. Among the speakers was Shabbos Kestenbaum, a former Democrat, who expressed support for Trump due to what he perceives as a lack of commitment from the Democratic Party to Israeli security. Kestenbaum’s endorsement reflects a growing sentiment among some Jewish voters who feel overlooked by the Democrats.
