۴٫۲ Magnitude Earthquake Hits Los Angeles Area

Payam Javan: A 4.2 magnitude earthquake rattled the second-largest city in the nation on Friday, centered about a mile northwest of Lytle Creek in the San Gabriel Mountains, east of Los Angeles.

Although the quake shook items off shelves near the epicenter and caused minor damage, there were no reports of major injuries.

This seismic event follows a similar 4.1 magnitude quake that hit the Los Angeles area less than a week ago during the Rose Parade. The recent quake was felt in surrounding areas, including downtown Los Angeles, Long Beach, and the home of minor league baseball’s Rancho Cucamonga Quakes.

The quake occurred in Cajon Pass, where the San Andreas and San Jacinto faults converge.
