Israel Strikes Iranian Military Targets in Overnight Assault

Payam Javan: The Israeli military launched overnight airstrikes on Friday, targeting what it described as “dozens of military targets” in Iran, including key industrial sites in Tehran used for missile production and a research facility linked to Iran’s defense capabilities. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) deployed over 60 fighter jets, dropping approximately 120 munitions, and intercepted four Iranian drones aimed at Israel. The strikes followed an Iranian missile attack on Thursday that damaged Israel’s Soroka Medical Center in Beersheba and residential buildings in Tel Aviv, injuring 271 people. No casualty figures from the Iranian side have been confirmed, and Iranian officials have yet to respond.

The escalation comes amid heightened tensions, with Israel describing last week’s strikes as a preemptive move to thwart Iran’s alleged nuclear ambitions, which Iran denies. Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz labeled Iran’s Supreme Leader a dictator intent on destroying Israel, vowing to prevent this goal. Meanwhile, the White House indicated that President Donald Trump is considering military action against Iran within two weeks, while prioritizing diplomacy to prevent Tehran from acquiring nuclear weapons. Human rights reports claim Israeli strikes have killed over 600 people in Iran, including 263 civilians, while Israel’s emergency services reported treating over 1,000 casualties from Iranian attacks.
